FLEUR-DE-LYS CLUB MANAGER

The Fleur-de-lys Club at Hilton College invites applications for the position of Club Manager, due to become vacant from 1 December 2008 owing to the retirement of the incumbent.

The Fleur-de-lys Club provides an important hospitality service to the Hiltonian community, particularly its members, the College, Old Hiltonians, parents and students, and is very much a “front of house” operation. It also manages outside use of College facilities.

Whilst more details will be made available to suitable candidates selected for interview the following sets out the essential criteria for the position and which will be used to identify possible candidates for interview:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills enabling successful engagement with members, parents, College staff members and students.

  • The ability to deliver consistently a high quality personal service.

  • Appropriate levels of hospitality industry knowledge and relevant practical experience in operating a small business.

  • The ability to plan and manage conferences and festivals.

  • The ability to plan for key activities and ensure that there are adequate resources available to meet such activities.

  • The ability to take responsibility for and undertake all the management and administrative activities associated with the Club’s operation.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks is considered vital to the success of the Club’s operation.

The essential elements of the position include:

  • The position is a permanent and full day position, however, the specific days of operation are governed by the needs of the operation which will include weekends, with the result that the Club may be closed on Mondays and/or Tuesdays in lieu thereof. These hours will be determined by the Club’s Management Committee from time to time whilst allowing for a degree of flexibility.

  • The Memorabilia Shop itself is only open for trade for certain hours as set by the Club’s Management Committee and which differ from the hours of operation of the Club itself.

  • Certain Saturdays and weekends during term time that correspond to specific periods and events in the school calendar are regarded as normal working days.

  • Leave is usually taken during the December/January school holidays. The total number of leave days meets normal commercial practice.

  • Remuneration is subject to agreement between the parties but is considered by the Club Management Committee to be fair and competitive in the market place.

Applicants are invited to submit an application including a short cv and the contact details of three referees, to:
