The Hockey Club has experienced another
memorable season at all levels, particularly at U14 level where Mike Mill
and Francois Morgan have worked hard to transform the fortunes of the U14
team and ended the season on a high note. With victories over Kearsney,
Glenwood, DHS and a draw with Michaelhouse to end the season, the U14A team
has really impressed everyone in their final phase of matches.
The U16’s
have been awesome with the B and C teams and their coaches Mike Todd and
Mike Green having the best overall results in many years. The U16A team has
performed superbly under the leadership of James Bullough and there is much
promise of exciting years ahead in the senior league.
The Second and Third
team were at times brilliant and have completed highly successful seasons
under the coaching of Bruce Nozaic and Nick Holtzhauzen. Again, the results
at this level are the best in a number of years.
The First Team were
unbeaten in 81% of their matches and at the time of writing are ranked as
the fourth best team in South Africa – the best ever placing by a Hilton
College First Team. This is the fifth year in a row that the team has been
placed in the Top Ten Rankings.

The 1st XI
Tim
Drummond was recently selected as captain of the SA U18 team - an excellent
way to end off the season!
At a short Prize-Giving Ceremony last week
the following Club Awards were made in which each of the players received a
chocolate cake and congratulations from First Team captain for the Michaelhouse match, Devin Whitfield. Our congratulations go to the following

Thanks to all the parents for the support
on the various tours and at the matches throughout the season – as coaches
we have valued your suggestions, the discussions on the side of the fields
and the odd small criticism. Hopefully we have added value not only to your
son’s hockey skills but also his life skills. We look forward to an exciting
2007 hockey season and renewing the friendships along the banks of the
Beckingham Astro.
Well done to Churchill who won the
Interhouse Hockey. They beat Falcon
House by 2 goals to 0 in the final.
