On Saturday (3 September) a bird viewing hide was opened on the banks of the farm dam below Pearce House. The hide was built in memory of Charles Anderson, a matric pupil at Hilton in 2001,  who was tragically killed shortly after leaving school. This wonderful addition to our Estate was made possible by the generous donations of members of his family and some of his class mates, many of whom were present at the opening. 

Dave White, Head of Conservation, commented on  this wonderful bird viewing hide and expressed that it would be used by many boys and Hiltonians in the future. Daniel Dix, a Form II pupil, thanked the donors for their generosity on behalf of the boys. It was hope also wonderful to have Charles’ family present at the ceremony who recalled his love for the outdoors and expressed their appreciation to his friends for their initiative in this project.  Following the brief ceremony which concluded with the Chaplain, Richard Wyngard, blessing the facility, several trees were planted by those who were there.
