“Life is partly what we make it,
and partly what it is made by the friends we choose”
Hsieh Tehyl

Dear McKenzie Parents

It has been a hot and humid week with much activity at the school. It was good to see so many new boy parents at the Form I Cocktail Party at the Fleur de Lys Club on Friday night. There was a lovely atmosphere at the club and both parents and new boys are finding their feet at Hilton.

Recently, there was an Expo evening for all the Clubs and Societies on offer at the school. Clubs and Societies are an important activity at the school and it is important that boys are pursuing interests beyond the classroom and sports field. I encourage boys to take advantage of all the school has to offer in this area as it broadens their horizons. (See photos below)

You will have read in last week’s e-news that I have been appointed Director of Marketing at the school. I look forward to my new position and to the challenges which lie ahead. I hope I can make a small contribution to this school which I am very passionate about. I would like to thank the many parents who have sent e-mails or phoned me with their best wishes, it is much appreciated, and thank you for your support. As mentioned in the e-news, I will remain on as Housemaster of McKenzie till the end of the year, and I am pleased that I am able to do so.

This Thursday we have the Inter-house Singing Competition which takes place for the first time. The whole House has to sing a song as well as a group of twelve boys has to perform a number. It should be good fun, and I wish Daniel Nambassi our conductor all the best and I look forward to listening to McKenzie House singing with gusto. I have been asked not to reveal the name of the song they will be singing as it is a surprise!

Believe it or not but half-term is around the corner. Please would out-of-country parents remember to let us know of their son’s arrangements for half-term.

I hope you have a great week and please do not hesitate to contact me regarding any matter about your son.

Regards

Paul
