I got a bit more of a lie in this morning as there was no running with the form I’s.

Boys enjoying chatting about certain issues that they are facing presently at school during tutors period

Wednesdays always start with Tutors Period at 7.25am. It was our first tutorial group for the year, and we have a very nice group led by our Tutor – Mr Odendaal. It took place in his lounge. We wrote down our goals for the term and at the beginning of every term we will revise them and set new ones. This, I find, helps greatly as you really come to terms with what you need to achieve and you start mulling over what you need to do to reach them.

Me taking part in a Drama exercise,
acting a scene from Woza Albert

Class today was busy, as usual and many lessons just carried on from where we left off yesterday. We continued reading our Afrikaans novel (which I am pleased to report, is now becoming clearer!) and watched boys perform scenes from Woza Albert in Drama. This was most enjoyable and I was impressed with the standard of work.

This afternoon was a free one for me, as it was the junior sports practice day. I got down to some work and completed some homework due for tomorrow. Then I went and played some table-tennis with a couple other matrics before hauling on my recently purchased takkies from the stock exchange and stretching in preparation for my daily exercise! I was happy to cut twenty seconds off my time around the circular drive from yesterday. My fitness is definitely on the up!

I had to shower quickly and get changed because the Heads of Houses had supper with the Headmaster at his house tonight beginning at 6:00pm. Mr and Mrs Lovatt put on an excellent supper of gigantic steaks (cooked to perfection) and delicious potato and green salads. Mrs Lovatt had made a Melba pudding for dessert which was superb! But with all things in life, a good time had to stop somewhere and he had to get down to some serious stuff, so we moved across to Mr Lovatt’s office for a meeting.

The Heads of Houses meeting with Mr Lovatt and Mr Ducasse

We discussed various issues including what is expected of a Head of House around the school, some general school issues, and we went through some of the perceived strengths and weaknesses as suggested by the matrics during our leadership weekend at the beginning of the year.

When I returned to the house it was quite late so I just popped in to see how our Bafana boys were doing in the soccer (which I’m pleased to report they were still engaged with a goalless draw), before going back to my room and completing a bit of prep which still needed doing.

On to Thursday
