Term 1: Newsletter 17

“I won’t accept anything less than the best a player’s capable of doing….and he has the right to expect the best that I can do for him and the team!"
( Lou Holtz, football coach)

Dear McKenzie Family

The end of the term has arrived and it certainly has been a busy one. Our boys have been involved in a number activities and it is gratifying to see how much they can do when they put their mind to it. There are too many activities to mention and I have covered most of them in previous newsletters this term. It has been our first term under the leadership of our new Headmaster Dave Lovatt, and things have gone well. He has been clear about his expectations of the boys and they have responded positively.

The term reports have been complete and you will be receiving them shortly. Please take the time to analyse them with your son, praise him where he has done well, and challenge him in areas where he can improve.

There are a number of our boys who will be representing the school at various sports festivals during the holidays, and I wish them all the best. I remind them, it is a privilege to attend such events, and that they are Hilton boys on and off the field. I have no doubt they will wear “the black and white” with pride. I will be in Johannesburg supporting the rugby and hockey and I look forward to seeing many of you at St Stithian’s or KES.

To our New Boys and their parents, you have now completed 1/20 of the terms of your Hilton career! Our New Boys have done well and I am sure they are glad that the first term is now behind them. They can be pleased with what they have achieved so far, and they are far more relaxed and part of the school, than they were earlier in the term.

Have a wonderful Easter holiday and enjoy having your son’s at home. I encourage our boys to spend quality time with their families, as well as recharge their batteries. I look forward to seeing you next term.

Kind Regards

Paul
