“The only sin is mediocrity”
Martha Graham
Dear McKenzie Family
On Sunday we had the Inter-house Cricket Competition. We were delighted
with our performances in both the junior and senior competition as we
were only seeded 6th in both competitions. However, we upset the odds by
coming 3rd and 4th respectively. It is amazing how passion and spirit
can help you to maximize your potential. Well done to the juniors who
beat Churchill and Pearce but lost to Ellis. The seniors beat Churchill
but lost to Falcon and eventual winners Newnham. My thanks to the
captains, Andrew Giliam and Jason Shield, for all their hard work.
It is unbelievable to think that half-term is just around the corner but
it has been a busy start to the year and I am sure the boys are looking
forward to the short break. A reminder, that all boys must have returned
from the long weekend by 8.30pm on Monday night. Could I also ask
parents to make sure their son has a haircut over half-term as there is
still four and half weeks till the end of the term.
The plans for our McKenzie Golf Day on the 16th of March is going well
and I encourage you to book your four-ball as well as let Matthew an
Asche know whether you can assist with a donation or prize. We hope to
have a full field and it promises to be a great day.
I am delighted by the manner in which our new boys have settled into the
school. They have made great strides over the past four weeks and we are
proud of them. In particular, I thank Matthew van Asche, Grant Tromp and
Andrew Giliam, for the guidance they have shown in assisting them. All
of them have passed their new boys test with flying colours and they
have integrated well in the House. I am sure the new boy parents are
particularly looking forward to having them home for a few days. I can
assure you they will do lots of sleeping and do not pamper them too
much!
Have a great week.
Regards
Paul
