Congregational practice takes place each Friday at 7.25am and I decide to take a walk up to the chapel on my way to the Crookes Block. Each Friday we have a Housemasters’ meeting from 11-12pm. We discuss daily issues as well as matters for the weekend. During break time coaches are finalizing their teams for the weekend.


The staff common room at tea time

This weekend there are several IEB User Group meetings around the country. Fortunately the Mathematics meeting is in Durban at Maris Stella. The entire Mathematics Department heads down to Durban for the 1.30 pm start.

After the IEB Mathematics meeting I head back to Hilton as we have a Form I Parents Cocktail Party at the Fleur de Lys Club. It is always a pleasant function and an opportunity for staff and parents to get to know each other better. It is also a time where Form I parents can have a good chat with their son’s Housemaster. On return to the House I am informed that the rowers are still on the road after the horrendous accident at Van Reenen’s.
