SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES

BURSARIES
Bursaries are awarded each year from funds provided mainly by the Hilton College Endowment Foundation. These bursaries are designed to enable parents of boys, who could otherwise not afford full fees, to send their sons to Hilton.

Applications for bursaries should be made before 28 March 2008. Thereafter, the Bursary Committee of the Board of Governors meets to allocate funds for the following year. (i.e. 2009 bursary applications close on 28 March 2008). As a general rule, bursaries are maintained for the duration of a pupil’s time at Hilton, although they may be withdrawn if a recipient fails to maintain satisfactory standards of work or behaviour.

SCHOLARSHIPS
In order to encourage applications from outstanding pupils, scholarships are offered. These are awarded on merit and are available only to boys entering at Grade 8 level. The majority of scholarships are open to all applicants; some are "closed" in that they are only available to graduates from certain schools.

Pupils are invited to sit the Scholarship examination on the basis of their performance in the Entrance Test, and their past academic performance. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the student’s performance in the Scholarship Examination and a personal interview. Interviews for academic, sport and music scholarships will take place on Friday the 11th of April 2008, and the Examinations will be written during the Prospective Pupils Weekend, which will be 12-13 April 2008.

Applications are invited for Sport and Music Scholarships. For these scholarships a detailed resume’ of the student’s achievements is required. Sports scholarship candidates are interviewed by our Sports Department whilst Music Scholarship candidates are required to audition. Applications for Sport and Music Scholarships must be submitted by the 31st March of the year preceding application.
