The second term has passed very quickly, with the Board able to focus on matters of strategy and planning for the future.  New initiatives being adopted are two Board sub-committees, for Academics and Sport. These committees will set out Terms of Reference to be approved by the Board, and will deal with setting clear visions for these disciplines, with defined strategies to be actioned. This will serve to give the staff and other stakeholders an opportunity to contribute to the future direction of Hilton College in these important areas.

40 YEAR REUNION

Old Hiltonians from 1970 gathered recently to celebrate their reunion 40 years after leaving Hilton College. It was a time for much merriment, fond memories and a touch of nostalgia. They enjoyed a dinner, a tour of the school and the opportunity to watch the mighty clash between the Hilton boys and the Michaelhouse boys on the sports fields.

Sonja Purdon, Nicky Drake, Michele Moxham and Belinda LeClezio

The Golf Day, traditionally held on the day before Hiltonian Day, has now become a regular highlight of the year.  The event is organized by the Pietermaritzburg branch of the Old Hiltonian Club, and provides a wonderful opportunity for Hiltonians to gather, enjoy a round of golf, and some very good natured rivalry.

The most recent of these days was held on Friday 21 May.  A large field enjoyed the perfect weather and the excellent condition of the Victoria Country Club course.  Competition was fierce, but at the end of the day, the winners were the ladies:  Belinda LeClezio, Michele Moxham, Nicky Drake and Sonja Purdon.  In second place were Brett Armstrong, Brent von Beneke, Dave Lovatt and Grant Warren.

A specialized Travel Service is now available to the wider Hilton community, following discussions with Howick Travel and Bundu Bashers Travel.

Discussions between The Hiltonian Society and Craig Goodenough, a shareholder in both XL Howick Travel and Bundu Bashers Travel, have resulted in an agreement to offer a specialized Travel Service to the wider Hiltonian community.  It is accessible to people with links to Hilton, and will offer a full range of services, catering for business travelers, family trips, boys' and staff travel arrangements, as well as group tours.  All arrangements will be made directly between between clients and the professional staff of Howick Travel and Bundu Bashers.  Hiltonian customers will need to identify themselves as such when making initial contact.
