FORM 2 (Grade 9)

In Form 2  we continue the development of the skills learned in Form 1.  

These skills in Form 2 emphasise the techniques used in research and in the presentation of material. A major part of the course involves the boys researching topics from the subject field and presenting their findings to the class in oral form.  Much emphasis is placed on the skilled use of Information Technology, both as a research tool and as an aid in presentation (e.g. as Power Point presentations).  The work covered is intended to enable the boys to take in their stride the "Common Tasks for Assessment"  that are set by the State/IEB late in the year as part of the national Grade 9 examination. More importantly, the intention is to provide the boys with skills that will be useful in business or the professions, wherever they go, later in adult life. History, after all, may be a subject using the past now, but its purpose is in the future. 

The subject matter covered includes:

1. World War 1 (Causes and events)
2. World War 2 (Causes and events)
3. The Rise and Fall of the Apartheid State - South Africa 1948 - 1994.

In addition any worthwhile topics from current affairs may be dealt with.
