THE HILTON ESTATE Over the last couple of years, the Estate sub-committee of the Board has been involved in formulating an aggressive Integrated Development Plan for the Estate. The purpose of an IDP is to provide a strategic framework which addresses social, economic, environmental and infrastructural issues for the management of resources. The IDP for the Hilton Estate was adopted at the recent meeting of the Board, and will serve as the road map to guide future planning. Click here for more information on issues relating to this. |

STAKEHOLDER SURVEY
Thank you to those Old Hiltonians who responded to the Stakeholder Survey, circulated in May/June. The results have been analysed, discussed at a Board meeting held with staff, and will provide valuable insights for the Board at its Strategic Planning Meeting later in the year. Following this process, there will be feedback to Hiltonians. |
ESTATE COMMUNITY Following the rejection by the Dept of Agriculture and Environmental
Affairs of the application to re-house the Estate community on “The
Dairy Site” along D494, the Board adopted a policy whereby those
residents with ESTA rights who chose to remain, as tenants, could do so,
but would be encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to gain
freehold title off the Estate. For more,

HILTONIANS DOWN UNDA Paddy Johnson was putting together an Old Hiltonians weekend at South Tweed Heads, NSW, Australia on 26 October. Unfortunately the response was poor and so Paddy decided to cancel the plans. However, his notice of cancellation elicited an interesting response as other Old Hiltonians in Australia decided to get to know one another better via the internet. MEMORIAL HALL With the generous support of a donor, the Memorial Hall has been transformed into a music concert venue. With specialised advice from acoustic engineer, Dr Ben van Zyl, and under the watchful eye of architect, Jeremy Hathorn, the stage has been enclosed and extended, acoustic panelling and diffusers have been introduced on the side and back walls, and there are now sound lobbies around the entrances. The stage is set and the musicians are warming up for the inaugural concert on Tuesday 16 October. |

EVENTS

Once again Hilton College played host to The Witness Hilton Arts Festival. Top quality, well supported shows, excellent arts and craft stalls and fine weather (although predictably turning a little chilly on the Sunday afternoon!) made for yet another top drawer weekend at the school. Congratulations to Sue Clarence, Doreen Stanley, the Witness and their teams for another excellent showpiece. Click here for some photos of the crowds. |
