END OF AN ERA

On the College’s annual Speech Day, held in October this year, the Chairman of the Board announced that the term of office of the current Headmaster, Mike Nicholson, would end in December 2007.  Click here for more info.

RETIRING STAFF

December 2006 sees the retirement of two long serving members of the Hilton Staff.

VULA SCHOOLS' SUCCESS

Hilton College was proud to host, through the VULA programme, the South African Institute of Mechanical Engineers Technology Olympiad.  Schools from around the country competed in this year's challenge, with Vula assisted schools taking 2nd and 5th places in the national finals.  Click here to read more.

DF DOWLING AWARD

Tim Drummond is the recipient of the DF Dowling Award for 2006.

The award was established following the death of one of Hilton's most famous cricketing sons, Derek Dowling, in 2003. The Old Hiltonian Club introduced the DF Dowling Award for the 1st X1 batsman who had scored the most runs in the season. This year the recipient is Tim Drummond.  Click here to read more.

Two Hilton College Boys distinguished themselves recently in the local media.

  • Reese Hartman, one of next year's matrics, was selected as a finalist in The Witness Short Story Competition.  Read his story "A person from Nowhere".

Tim Meyers (right) was announced Head Boy of Hilton College at the Speech Day ceremony in October, while Sam Mabombo was awarded the mantle of Deputy.

MUSICAL ACHIEVEMENTS

NEW PEARCE HOUSE
The new Pearce House is rapidly taking shape.  The contract has been set back a little by some persistent rain in the spring and early summer,  but the boys will be in there by the beginning of Term 2, 2007. Click here for more photos.
