NATURE RESERVE ON THE ESTATE
|
Negotiations are well-advanced with Ezemvelo for the declaration of the conservation area of the Estate as a Nature Reserve. This has several advantages, including rates relief, but the biggest is that it will ensure that the uMngeni Valley and Gwens areas of the Estate will be protected for ever. The only development possible there would be things normally associated with conservation areas such as camp sites, bird hides, etc..
The conservation area is in excellent shape. Dave White and his staff tend it meticulously and it remains our own special haven. Dave would enjoy additions to the game on the Estate. There are currently some giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, impala, nyala, various other antelope and warthog. If you can help, please contact Dave on dfw@hiltoncollege.com |
