Introduction

The Hilton College Music Department would like to introduce your son to the wonderful world of music by providing him the opportunity to play a musical instrument, get involved in a music ensemble or, in any other music-related activity offered at the school.

Aim & Objectives

Music is the 'Universal Language' of the world and the Hilton College Music Department firmly believes that our boys should be prepared to leave our school as valuable, well-balanced members of society.

Therefore, we strongly and positively encourage adolescent boys' exposure to music throughout their time at Hilton College as this will ensure they will become well-rounded and informed young men ready for the exciting challenges in an ever changing world.

The importance of playing a musical instrument is paramount during adolescence because:

• Music offers young people the opportunity for self expression through a nonverbal, creative and meaningful medium 
• It has the ability to form strong bonds between boys of all ages through the pleasure of ensemble work, whether through singing in a choir or by playing in a school band or orchestra
• Self- discipline is developed through regular practice 
• Music develops cognitive and analytical skills, improves the powers of concentration and also trains the memory
• Music performance improves self-confidence if directed and facilitated in a positive and encouraging way.
