Life Orientation exists to improve, equip and challenge the lives of Hilton boys in numerous ways.
With a diverse and dynamic team, classes prove to be a place where boys feel comfortable to discuss a variety of relevant topics.
All of the content is based on eBooks developed by Achieve Careers who are leaders in their field. Content is innovative, interactive and put together by an incredible team of graphic designers, which all comes together for a learning experience that is second to none. All assignments are completed online and everything else is done through Moodle.
Topics that are covered are selectively chosen by the department, meeting the needs of the school and learners in every way possible. These include: Physical Education, Bullying, Racism, Substance Abuse, Social and Environmental Responsibility, Anti-pornography, Human Trafficking, Sexual Ethics, Gender Discrimination, Healthy Relationships, Leadership, Work Contracts and Ethics, Human Rights, Study Skills, Career Opportunities, CV Writing, Interview Skills, Job Shadowing, Social Media Etiquette, Citizenship, Personal Branding, League of Gentleman and much more.
Several real time surveys are conducted during lessons and then discussed at length, while a variety of dynamic guest speakers also form an integral part of the curriculum. Combining learning involvements with local schools on important topics during Heart Beat days, also form part of the Life Orientation experience.
Life Orientation is relevant, real and changes lives every day.
It is a compulsory subject for grades 8-12.
